Local physicians and medical
groups refer patients to Beach City Health and Fitness for a number of services, including: - Resting Metabolic Rate
Assessments using the Korr Metacheck (Medical Metabolism System).
- This assessment takes only 10 minutes
and provides you with your resting metabolic rate - the number of calories you burn over 24 hours while at rest.
This number provides a basis for determining how many calories you should consume within 24 hours, and what exercises might
best be prescribed for burning calories in order for you to reach your optimal safe and healthy weight.

The
Club features Magnum Strength Equipment. Magnum is "Low Profile" making it easier to get on and off.
The Magnum equipment also utilizes hydraulic cylinders to assist with seat and back adjustments. Freemotion
equipment is also used at BCH&F. Freemotion mimics the natural movements of the body using articulating cable and
pulley systems that adjust to your range of motion automatically. There is little to no need for memorizing seat and
back adjustment numbers -- they're not used. Offering strength equipment that is more functional in nature means those people with specific
pre - and post - therapy requirements can exercise more comfortably. Being hurt is hard enough. Getting better
should not be almost as painful.

Several local physicians and physical therapists refer clients to Beach
City Health and Fitness. We
take this responsibility seriously, and we make sure that information regarding the patient's success is related back to the
referring medical expert (with the client's permission). However, all of the assessments and training programs are available without a medical referral. We do not accept insurance and fees are paid prior
to services. It is possible that many insurance carriers will reimburse for some of the assessments and training programs
available at the club, but it is the responsibility of the client to contact their carrier and arrange reimbursement.
Any and all information the insurance company may need to facilitate reimbursement to the client will be made available upon
request.

At BCH&F we use the concept
of Energy Balance to help teach you how to maintain a healthy weight.
The body gains or loses
fat based on energy balance. Energy balance refers to the relationship between energy intake (eating) and energy expenditure
(metabolic rate). The figures below describe the three states of energy balance.
Normal Energy Balance: Consumption
and expenditure in balance, no weight gain or loss
Negative Energy Balance: Expenditure is greater than consumption
(caloric deficit), causes weight loss.
Positive Energy Balance: Consumption exceeds expenditure (caloric surplus),
leading to weight gain.
